I had a user email me with the following request:
“Hot tub chemical calculator for non chlorine oxidizing shock”
I assume they want something like this, which looks like it uses 33% potassium peroxymonosulfate:
The dosing instructions on that product state that, regardless of readings, we should add 2 ounces per 500 gallons of the shock. That seems simple enough, but I need to make a few other decisions:
- Should we tell them to shock every time?
- Is there any sanitizer to maintain (trace amounts of chlorine, or bromine, or… something?)
